8/4/2023 0 Comments Diablo iv single playerAnd It's not a problem that I'm playing it with friends, I enjoy playing SP games in co-op, but sheer amount of activities outside of the campaign. To be honest I was thinking the game would be more linear during single player. That's the post, now excuse me as I'm going to min/max my barb so I can one-shot Lilith. Studio like Blizzard could have easily think of a way to separat singeplayer from endgame, both gameplay and story wise but it seems like they deliberately created this to feel and play like the endgame from begining. This feels more like a beta testing for season 1 rather than a game trying to tell a story. We are going to spend next few years playing exclusively endgame activities (apart from story expansions) why not give us solid single player free of endgame mechanics. It's a strange feeling because I'm enjoying the game I enjoy trying to improve my caharacter and build and I like the end game systems implement but I think it's hurting the story and well crafted world they created. After you finish the campaign the game could open to you to do as you please, chase whatever content you feel like doing and min/max to your heart desire. A more linear experience would serve this story and Diablo more justice. To be clear I'm not against open world or MMO systems but I think they could have been introduced after the campaign is finished. I'm sorry but the immersion immediately goes out of the window and its no longer my adventure, I'm just another person doing the exact same thing everyone else is doing. Again, no problem seeing this at the end of the game or during a season, but in a singleplyer. Here, you get outside the town and literally see three level 40 barbarians clearing everything in front of you. I can still remember going outside of town in Diablo II alone for the first time, feeling unease as I fight some basic enemies. By focusing on MMO aspects early on, Diablo lost it's identity. By doing so Diablo lost that horror factor, that feeling of you fighting alone in this desperate world against all odds. This game is MMO first with story and singleplayer experience being the secondary component. World events straight away that rewards you materials used for min/maxing your build. There's no locked zones, everything is open, dungeons with legendary powers are highlighted on the map so the players can waste no time and find the power they need to propel their build and make themselves stronger. You get all that in Diablo IV literally after 30 mins in game, so I can understand why the players can put story to the side and play this differently. Remember Horadric cube from Diablo III where you had to finish the main story, than get the quest to find the item that prepares you for the endgame with it's powerful bonuses, not to say that it was used to reroll and craft legendaries. Every game system is unlocked to you, there's no leveling vendors for them to be able to craft and sell better quality gear, you can start rerolling and crafting legendaries early on, the game just throws you into the world without explaining to you any system, which means that Blizzard knows their audience and giving players what they are going to do most of the time early on, and it hurts the story and feeling of being part of this desperate world. The game plays like an endgame from the beginning. You can literally go outside, explore each zone for hours in between main quest and forget what was the story about. I'm currently level 51, just started on Act II, so far I'm enjoying the game playing with my brother and our friend but it feels like something's not right, and than It hit me.Īpart from the opening act, where you find Lorath and escort him to the Kyovashad game feels like a multiplayer more than singleplayer experience and it's hurting the so far interesting story and that horror atmosphere Diablo was known for. This is something I was thinking more and more while playing the game, and cannot shake the feeling that Blizzard killed single player experience in this game.
